With only 9 players Tew were put in to bat and struggled against a strong Banbury side who bowled straight and gave away virtually no extras. Callum Ardron (23) batted with great patience and displayed excellent technique. Oliver Brooks (15) also looked to be building a score until being dispatched by a good piece of bowling. Setting a low target of 62 Tew were always going to struggle but there was a glimmer of hope when both Jason Till and Rory Hlustik took early wickets with the help of excellent catching skills from Ben Merritt and Oliver Brooks. We tailed off after that however and the home team reached the target with ease winning by 8 wickets.
I was really pleased with how the lads applied themselves and, particularly, batted out the 20 overs with only 9 players against a strong bowling side. Thanks go to Paul Hlustik for scoring.
