U15s Quarter-Final winners
The U15s took on Minster Lovell A at home last night and batted first. From the first over the batsmen attacked in a very sensible way, striking a great many boundaries but also running quick singles and pushing several of those into second runs. Cam Brown and James Babbage looked in great nick and both retired on 50 and 53 respectively and Owen Maginnis struck a fine 42 including two wonderful 6s. Sam Priscott remained not out on 29 and was very quick between the wickets which heaped pressure on the fielding team. We ended up on 198 for 2 after 20 overs.
In reply Minster Lovell only managed to reach 101 for 7. Ollie Mersh hit a fine 50 but had little support. We bowled well but possibly gave the opponents 20 or so more runs than they deserved. Will Priscott and Owen Maginnis took two wickets apiece in their opening spells and Will also featured in a fine piece of fielding to run out one of the batsmen. Tew looked focused in the field and the team spirit was wonderful. We now move on to the semi-final stage next Monday and, if successful, the final will take place on Friday. Venues to be confirmed.
Well done to our two debutants last night. Ollie Broughton and James Churchill both did us proud and worked very hard in the field. Finally, thank you to everyone who came along to support. I know the boys get a great kick from the atmosphere.
