Aussie tourers come to Tew

GLTCC play Canterbury CC, Melbourne
A great day was enjoyed by everyone on Wednesday when Canterbury CC brought a large group of tourers to The Taylor Oval. Wonderful weather and cricket played in a very convivial manner meant the day went off with a bang. Opting to field, Tew bowled well and wickets were shared pretty evenly. One or two sharp pieces of fielding meant we were in a strong position until one of the tourers got on top of us and his 50 meant they posted 242 in their 40 overs.
In reply, Ben and Charlie Sinton got us off to a solid start but then we lost a few wickets (Charlie to a stunning diving catch taken by a 71 year old!!) and we never really got going finishing on 160.
A Wibbly-Wobbly challenge and a fantastic BBQ topped off the day with the visitors leaving telling us it was the best day of their tour.
A massive thank you to the groundstaff for preparing such a wonderful wicket, to Megan and Barbara for all their hard work throughout the day and to Dave for a great BBQ.
