Latest News – U11’s & U13’s

Two junior games of cricket played this morning both at Tew one under 13 cup and one under 11 league. BY coincidence both against Minster Lovell The way the games panned out proves that I know nothing about cricket.

Firstly our under 13’s ( made up of most of the under 11 county champions from last season) scored a very competitive 122 from 20 overs and knowing the bowlers we have I was confident that if we bowled and fielded like a know we can it would have been enough. Top knock from Charlie Anthony Corbett who batted with maturity and great game awareness to be 31 retired. We then didn’t bowl as well as we could of done with the exception of Alex Bobby Din who delivered as expected and minster lovell chased down our total with 3 overs to spare. It is the first time that this young group of players have tasted defeat for over two years, so hopefully there will be some lessons learnt, and we know what to work on next friday in training.

Under 11’s on the nursery ground bowled first and thanks to some good hitting from the Minster top order they were under the pump a little bit, but then bowled great for the last 10 overs to keep minster to 73. We then had a pretty indifferent start and were 10-5 off off seven overs! I was thinking game over however up stepped Aaron Nicola Lacey and Samson Marc Canham to not lose another wicket and steer us home with 4 overs to spare with some real sensible batting. meaning that the under 11’s are now 3 wins from 3 in the league this season.

special thanks to all I talked into helping today Marc Canham Bobby Din Matt Pumfrey David Thomas Chris Serena Nicholls Anthony Corbett ( top scorebaord man!) beer on me next friday.
