G&L Tew U15’s beat Twford by 11 runs (14th May, 2018)

  • 15th May 2018

Twyford hosted the game despite being without several key players and in the end only managed to field 8 players, two of whom were very young. The game was played in a very sporting manner and Tew were put in to bat. Strong performances from Ben Sinton and Sam Chopping, both retired on 50 and from Charlie Gaskin (26) as well as Richard Churchill saw us post 179 for 5. In reply, Twyford struggled but reached 68 before losing their 6 wickets. In truth. our team made heavy weather of the bowling but Alex Maginnis showed how to benefit from bowling a good line and length clean bowling two players in his 2-12.

We fielded with more urgency this week which was the focus of Friday’s training session and there are aspects of the game which we need to address this coming Friday. All in all a good team performance.

A final word for Richard Churchill who sportingly fielded as sub for the opposition when there was an injury and who then pulled off a spectacular catch in the covers to dismiss Harry Smith. Played in the right spirit so well done.
