Congratulations to our 2017 Junior Club Captains
This year the committee has decided to appoint two Junior Club Captains to represent all our youth teams and act as their ambassadors within the club. It is an honour we have bestowed on two people we felt would be best able to act as role models and points of contact for our younger players as well as bridging the gap between our juniors and seniors. Please join us in congratulating Michael Rae (Currently U17) and Charlie Corbett (Currently U13) whose exemplary club spirit and maturity made them obvious choices. See below the image for ways in which you can support them and their roles for this season.
To help Michael and Charlie fulfil their roles properly, we would ask all senior players to keep them abreast of the successes and (hopefully few) failures during the season and take time out to make them feel included in the senior team’s ‘stories’ on the field and (only where appropriate) off the field ;-). Likewise, where we hope that will encourage larger audiences of juniors to the important senior games and a club-wide buzz around star players during the season, we would also hope that enthusiasm is shared the other way and our seniors will regularly ask Michael and Charlie to keep them in the loop on how their teams are getting on and get to know some of the younger star players and watch some of their games.
This is the first year we have had Junior Club Captains and they will be helping to define the roles in terms of specific responsibilities so please feel free to reach out to them with your ideas.
Thanks to Dave Freeman’s strong inclusion of our Juniors over the years, Great & Little Tew CC is already one of the best clubs in terms of our ‘one family’ atmosphere, but we hope that as a result of these appointments we can make the gap between the seniors and juniors disappear completely.
Thank you on behalf of The Committee…
