3rd XI victory over East Oxford 2nd XI

  • 30th June 2015

Winning the toss, East Oxford opted to bat and having survived a fiery opening spell from Asela Jayasundara they settled into a rhythm and reached 233 before being bowled out. Taking the pace off the ball worked on the day and Henry Simmonds carded a very respectable 3-34. Tew were credited with an extra 6 overs and batted sensibly for the most part. Carl Haggett opened with Tom White and can consider himself extremely unlucky to have been on the end of a poor umpiring decision. Tom looked in fine fettle scoring 37 and Jamie Shurmer, coming in at 3, scored an almost faultless 65 not out. Other contributions led to the home team winning in 48 overs. This felt like a real team performance and bodes well for the rest of the season.
