3rd XI suffer at Banbury

  • 18th August 2015

Banbury IV won the toss and elected to bat but made a very slow start. Jamie King’s opening spell was exceptional with 6 consecutive maidens (including a double wicket maiden) and only 4 runs coming from his seventh over. Will Priscott also started well with his opening 6 overs only costing 15 runs. However, Banbury gradually picked up the pace and ended on 228 for 7. In reply, Tew started badly against decent bowling and things only went from bad to worse. Ken Shurmer was the only player to show any resistance scoring an entertaining 38 not out and we finished bowled out in 44 overs for 120. Despite being a disappointing day we have taken away things to be excited about and are looking forward to competing in the last three games of the season. Banbury showed their class and it is no surprise they lead the division by quite a margin.
