3rd XI stumble at Cublington

  • 13th July 2015

Opting to bat, Tew stuttered from the start against some decent seam bowling by Cublington IIs. At 64 for 5 things looked grim. Sam Barnes was looking good but fell for 25. However, an excellent innings by Tom Young (85) and sturdy support play from the lower-order batters saw us reach 221 in 47 overs. It was particularly pleasing to see the young U16 players stand their ground so well. In reply we felt confident but did not bowl as we should have and A. Inglis in particular took advantage striking a quite superb 128 not out to win the game for our opponents in the penultimate over. Again I would like to praise the younger players for their performances. Jamie King (3-46) and Will Priscott (1-26) were the pick of the bowlers.
